In a statement, CES organiser, the Consumer Technology Association, blamed the outage on recent heavy rainfall which caused condensation on the venue's roof to short circuit one of the facility's transformers.

The power failure followed heavy rain on Tuesday, which had forced Google to shut one of its booths located in the LVCC's vehicle park. The power at the Las Vegas Convention Center was restored around 1:20 pm with help from NV Power.

CES have announced online that "We've been informed by Nevada Power that the outage has been addressed and they are in the process of restoring power". And still others were incredulous about how the biggest tech show in the world could lose electricity in the first place. The darkened hall houses booths from some of tech's biggest companies, including LG, Samsung, Panasonic, Intel and Sony. About that heavy rainfall: Record-breaking rain on Tuesday had already caused a bit of chaos at CES, flooding a number of booths, including one belonging to Google.

Public service announcements played over an intercom thanking attendees for their patience while the work to resolve the issue continued.

Exhibitors have not yet put forward any complaints concerning damages caused by the power outage, nor has the show organizer officially mentioned a plan regarding the mishap.

Some publicists even tried to exploit the power outage. Both large and smaller ones rely on the annual trade show to ink deals that will translate to cash months in the future; the blackout disrupted some of the product demos, panels and meetings key to those deals.

The Consumer Electronics Show was shut down briefly due to a blackout. Any tech being shown off at the show that requires an outlet isn't operational. The power went out in the central hall of #CES2018! Most of its display was lit as hundreds of attendees passed by in the dark on their way to a brightly lit giant screen TV over South Hall.
