Borussia Dortmund have left Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang out of their squad for the second time this season for undisclosed "disciplinary reasons".

Aubameyang, who has scored 21 goals in 23 appearances for Dortmund in all competitions this season, was linked with a move to Chelsea in the summer after topping the goalscoring table in the Bundesliga last season.

Before kick-off against Wolfsburg, Dortmund coach Peter Stoeger revealed that Aubameyang was kicked out of the squad for missing a team meeting on Saturday.

"It means he can have his position back next week".

"He (Aubameyang) was a bit surprised, he didn't take it so seriously, but for us, the case was clear", added Stoeger. "But now someone else is playing who is totally focused".

According to club sources, the matter is not in relation to an Instagram post Aubameyang made on Sunday when he accused a German journalist of racism.

"We are relatively relaxed". Bild reported that the striker had been repeatedly late for training, including turning up 20 minutes late for final preparations ahead of the trip to Stuttgart.

And last season he was dropped for flying to Milan to visit family just before a Champions League match.

The timing of Aubameyang's latest suspension is especially unfortunate after Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke defended the striker in an interview with daily newspaper Die Welt.
