Vikings activate QB Bradford off injured reserve

News of Bradford's activation began to heat up on Friday when the Boston Globe's Ben Volin cited a league source that Minnesota planned to dress the quarterback for Sunday's game. Bradford last played at Chicago on October 9.

To clear a roster spot, the Vikings waived tight end Kyle Carter. In that game, the quarterback sustained a noncontact knee injury that forced him to miss his next three starts.

Earlier this week, Zimmer said he knows who his backup quarterback will be when the Vikings host the Saints in the divisional round but chose not to disclose his plan.

Bradford hasn't played in a game since then, and went on injured reserve November 8 after having his third operation on his left knee the day before.

Sam Bradford is back on the 53-man roster.

Despite Bradford being removed from injured reserve, the Star Tribune is reporting that Teddy Bridgewater will still be the number two quarterback behind Case Keenum on Sunday. The difference for New Orleans here is whether they can put pressure on the Vikings front to get to Case Keenum as they have been one of the most balanced teams in the National Football League and if they can't keep their pivot upright this weekend it could be their downfield and spoil the chance to play in a Super Bowl at home. Central time Sunday on Fox, with the NFC championship set for 5:40 p.m. January 21, also on Fox.

The Saints look to build on their home win last weekend against the Carolina Panthers and keep their Super Bowl aspirations alive as they take to the road to battle the defensively stout Minnesota Vikings in a contrast of styles that should make for a very exciting game. The last time they dressed three QBs for a game was on November 7, 2013, while Leslie Frazier was still the head coach for a game against the Washington Redskins.
