Friends said father-of-three Shane Gilmer had taken his pregnant partner to a house in the village of Southburn near Driffield East Yorkshire

A major manhunt for a suspected "crossbow killer" in a quiet East Yorkshire village continues this afternoon as police renew calls not to approach a man named as Anthony Lawrence.

We are able to confirm that the victim killed in the incident was 30-year-old Shane Gilmer.

Extensive searches are underway to locate Anthony Lawrence who police want speak to urgently in connection with a suspected murder in Southburn, Driffield.

A spokesperson said police were called at 9.20pm last night following reports that a man and woman had been seriously injured in a disturbance at a property.

Mr Gilmer died at Hull Royal Infirmary on Saturday, while the woman remains in a stable condition.

"We are still actively hunting for Mr Lawrence", a spokesman for Humberside Police said.

Chief Insp Parsons said that at this point, it was believed this was an isolated incident and there was no threat to the wider public, but he added:"If you believe you have seen Anthony Lawrence or have any information about his whereabouts, please don't approach him yourself".

"We are supporting Mr Gilmer's family during this hard and sad time".

East Riding of Councillor for the Southburn area, Felicity Temple said: 'We don't know anything, but the police helicopter has been flying overhead.

'My deep heart-felt sympathies go out to the family of those involved'.

"Anthony, it's vital that we speak to you about this incident as soon as possible and I would urge you to go straight to your nearest police station so that we can do this".

He is described as white, 56-years-old, around 5ft 10in tall, balding, with close cropped dark hair and large build.

'Avoiding speaking to us could only make matters worse for you in the long run'.

In a direct plea issued to Mr Lawrence yesterday, Chief Inspector Andy Parsons called on him to come forward.
