"My first reaction is what a spectacular fall from grace it is for Marco Silva, who was being touted as the best thing to hit the Premier League for a long time, the new Pochettino etcetera".

Super Eagles striker Isaac Success is set to get another manager after Watford took the decision to sack Marco Silva following a run of just one win in eleven Premier League games.

Prior to Everton's approach for Silva, Watford had won four, drawn three and lost four from 11 league games.

Instead, Everton appointed Sam Allardyce to replace the sacked Ronald Koeman.

Speaking on the Sunday Supplement, the Mail on Sunday's chief sports writer Holt says Silva's flirtation with Everton in November did not go down well at Vicarage Road, and insists the sacking is understandable. Fearing he couldn't arrest the slump the club have made a decision to sack him.

"This has been a hard decision and one not taken lightly".

A Watford statement said they were "convinced the appointment of Silva" last summer "was the right one".

"The catalyst for this decision is that unwarranted approach, something which the Board believes has seen a significant deterioration in both focus and results to the point where the long-term future of Watford FC has been jeopardised".

That interest has been blamed by the Watford board for a loss of focus. He covers all sport from football, formula one, cricket, rugby, tennis, athletics, mma and wrestling.
