Depay scores stunning late victor as Lyon beat 10-man PSG

Jean-Michel Aulas said before the game that he ranks Nabil Fekir higher than Brazil superstar Neymar and the lofty praise of the Lyon president was justified in fantastic fashion inside two minutes.

PSG travelled to Lyon on Sunday night without star man Neymar after the Brazil worldwide was sidelined with a thigh injury.

Fekir spotted Alphonse Areola off his line, and the midfielder took advantage of the PSG goalkeeper's questionable positioning to beat him at his near post.

In the second half, Dani Alves saw red for PSG and Memphis finally appeared from the bench with twenty minutes left.

No longer does he have Alexandre Lacazette, now of Arsenal, to fall back on, yet he leads the way for Lyon in terms of Ligue 1 goals this season with 15 in 18 appearances, playing mostly out of the midfield.

PSG levelled in first-half stoppage-time, though, as Kurzawa blasted home a magnificent left-footed volley off the crossbar from his fellow full-back Alves's dinked cross.

Lyon won a free-kick wide on the right flank, around 30 yards from goal, with Areola expecting Fekir to deliver a cross into the box.

And during the lengthy period of stoppage time added for Mbappe's injury, PSG equalised with a stunning goal.

The match continued to ebb and flow with sights of goal at both ends, but PSG suffered a blow with 10 minutes remaining until half time when Kylian Mbappe was stretchered off the field following a heavy collision with Lopes.

Lyon nearly retook the lead with 13 minutes to play as Rafael headed over from close range, before Cavani was also booked for dissent as PSG continued to lose their heads.

The visiting side emerged from the interval chasing the victory, but they were a man down with 57 minutes gone after Alves was sent off.

Alves brought down Tanguy NDombele but reacted furiously to the correct award of a free-kick and squared up to referee Turpin, who sent the Brazilian off for dissent.
