Dólar cai após fala de Mnuchin

Esta declaração aparentemente normal de Trump contraria, porém, as afirmações ontem feitas pelo secretário do Tesouro americano.

Dois dias depois do aumento de tarifas de importação para painéis solares e máquinas de lavar, o secretário do Tesouro dos Estados Unidos, Steven Mnuchin, afirmou nesta quarta-feira em Davos que os EUA estão comprometidos com o livre comércio e querem "trabalhar com o resto do mundo", a despeito da política de "America First" (ou "América Primeiro").

O secretário do Tesouro disse também que os mercados "gostaram muito" da reforma fiscal recentemente aprovada nos Estados Unidos, o que já permitiu que várias empresas pudessem transferir para o país milhões de dólares, como foi o caso da Apple.

Para Trump as declarações de Mnuchin foram mal interpretadas e retiradas do contesto em que foram feitas.

Os comentários de Mnuchin na terça-feira provocaram a queda do dólar. "Pensava que tinha sido equilibrado e consistente com o que disse anteriormente, que é, não estamos preocupados em relação à cotação do dólar no curto prazo", salientou, citado pela Reuters. Por isso, acho que é bastante claro. A diferença hoje é que as tropas americanas vão na frente, declarou.

A chanceler da Alemanha, Angela Merkel, frisou em seu discurso em Davos, ontem, que o protecionismo e o isolamento não solucionam os desafios econômicos enfrentados por países em todo o mundo. Angela Merkel, chanceler alemã, criticou em Davos o proteccionismo e disse que "fecharmo-nos e isolarmo-nos não conduzirá a um bom futuro". Emmanuel Macron, presidente da França, defendeu, em Davos, que o combate contra o proteccionismo requer a coordenação internacional.
