'Bad Boys 3' Eyeing New Directors & August Production Start

Shit just got real on the third instalment of the Bad Boys franchise because Sony has lined up new directors for the long-awaited sequel, Bad Boys for Life. Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are now said to be in negotiations to direct the film, Moroccan directors behind films such as Gangsta and Snowfall. The show stars Gabrielle Union as Syd Burnett, reprising her role from Bad Boys II. Transformers film franchise alum Michael Bay directed both installments, which pulled in a collective $414.7 million in the global box office.

Such is the case with Bad Boys 3. Following that news, Sony announced that the sequel was delayed indefinitely with the studio frequently changing its scheduled release date. The film is reportedly looking at an August production start. "Will [Smith] is off doing another movie, and I don't think it's going to happen". Jerry Bruckheimer is back as producer, too, so the project is clearly in capable hands.

Don't hold your breath on this one, but rest assured we'll keep you informed of any further developments for the future of Burnett and Lowery. That new writer is Chris Bremner, who penned the most recent draft of the film's script. El Arbi and Fallah wrote and directed Black, a story about organized crime in Belgium.

Bad Boys for Life doesn't have a release date yet.
