Ford calls it a Compact Utility Vehicle, and will position the vehicle atop the current Ford Figo hatchback range. The Freestyle is expected to be officially launched in April, this year- which is when the prices will be revealed and bookings will open- company sources told TOI. The auto will compete with the likes of the Hyundai i20 Active, the Volkswagen Polo Cross and the Toyota Etios Cross. Just so you know, in 2017 alone, compact SUV sales in India grew 37 percent compared to 9 percent in total vehicle sales.

"With the cool, capable and connected Ford Freestyle, we are adding yet another great product to our diverse portfolio that help us expand our family of happy Ford owners in India", Mehrotra added. With its raised ride height, powerful new engine and the new infotainment system and car-like design, the new Ford Freestyle will tick every box for auto buyers in India. Ford Freestyle flaunts blacked-out high contrast headlamps complemented by fog lamp bezel and a unique grille with a dynamic, three-dimensional mesh. The Freestyle features a new 6.5-inch infotainment system that seemingly floats above the centre of the dashboard. The company has increased track-width and improved ground clearance, which is expected to enhance the multi-terrain handling capabilities of the vehicle.

Ford Motor on Wednesday globally unveiled its latest compact utility vehicle "Freestyle" to be launched in second quarter of this year in India. Powered by a brand new 1.2 litre 3 cylinder petrol engine and five speed manual transmission, the new model can generate a power output of 96 PS. It makes 96hp and 120Nm, making it the most powerful engine in its class. The American automaker has also introduced Active Rollover Prevention (ARP) & Electronic Stability Control (ESC) features with the Freestyle.
