President Donald Trump delivered his State of the Union speech on Tuesday and took credit for the African American and Hispanic employment being at an all time low, among other things. Maxine Waters and John Lewis, saying they wouldn't sit through the address after Trump had lied, and called Haiti, El Salvador, and African nations "sh*thole" countries.

Al Lawson was seen clapping for Trump's comments about the success of the economy, specifically African-American unemployment, as cameras immediately turned to the group during his speech.

It's correct that the black unemployment rate recently reached its lowest level in decades, but it has been steadily declining for about the last seven years.

"Something I am very proud of, African-American unemployment stands at the lowest rate ever recorded".

According to NPR, this isn't off base.

"The Congressional Black Caucus can now answer the question he posed to the African-American community in 2016 with 100 percent certainty: African-Americans have a lot to lose under the Trump Administration, and we have lost a lot already, especially when it comes to his justice, voting rights, education, housing, and health care policies", Richmond said. It's not uncommon for applause to rise up along party lines during the SOTU, but people on Twitter took note of the CBC's lack of response.
