Uranium One Informant Tells Congress Russia Routed Money for Clinton Global Initiative

Uranium One scandal shows Washington still blames Russia for everything

The bombshell accusation raises new questions over how and why the Obama administration approved the controversial agreement; despite warnings from the Federal Bureau of Investigation that Russian agents were seeking to infiltrate America's nuclear industry.

The Hill has acquired a copy of Campbell's testimony, which details his work exposing an extensive Kremlin-led operation to push USA policy in a Russia-friendly direction on many fronts.

In a written statement to three congressional committees, informant Douglas Campbell said Russian nuclear executives told him that Moscow hired American lobbying firm APCO Worldwide to influence Hillary Clinton, then secretary of state, among others in the Obama administration, The Hill reported on Wednesday. The contract detailed four $750,000 payments over a year's time. "APCO was expected to give assistance free of charge to the Clinton Global Initiative as part of their effort to create a favorable environment to ensure the Obama administration made affirmative decisions on everything from Uranium One to the U.S. -Russia Civilian Nuclear Cooperation agreement", added the inside man.

APCO refers to APCO Worldwide, an American-based lobbying firm working on behalf of Russian authorities.

Clinton spokesman Nick Merrill told The Hill that the the story is "designed to distract" attention from the Mueller investigation into alleged collusion between Russian Federation and President Donald Trump.

Democrats on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee claimed that Campbell's statement didn't show any "allegations of impropriety or illegality" on Clinton's part.

"Just yesterday the committee made clear that this secret informant charade was just that, a charade".

"I was frustrated watching the USA government make numerous decisions benefiting Rosatom and Tenex while those entities were engaged in serious criminal conduct on US soil", [Campbell] wrote.

He said he never got a satisfactory answer from the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Hillary Clinton served on the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), which unanimously approved the partial sale of the Canadian mining company Uranium One to Russian nuclear giant Rosatom. His answer: 'Ask your politics, ' " Campbell said.
