In a state where the government is among the highest job-generating agency, the lure of higher pay scales serves as a big pull for the state's employed as well as the job aspirants.

BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav said the saffron party wants to "free" Tripura of the CPI (M) "misrule".

Tripura is set to go to polls on 18 February and the results will be announced on 3 March.

Amit Shah, the leader of the BJP party has begun his campaign from the notherneast state of Tripura, before the Assembly elections.

"BJP is the only alternatives for development on Tripura", he said. Accusing the Left cadre of pocketing public funds meant for development, Shah asked the people to oust "Lal bhai" government from the state. He is scheduled to hold two public meetings at Chowmanu and Teliamura followed by a road show from Chandrapur to Agartala in the afternoon. "It won't be merely a change of MLAs or government but will usher in its transformation", he said. He said state government employees in Tripura were still getting salaries based on the 4th Pay Commission's recommendations.

"Where has all this extra RS 18,000 crore gone?"

Raising the party's slogan, "Chalo Paltai" (Let's change the government), Shah sought the Left's ouster from the state. The poverty and unemployment, however, increased in its 25 years reign.

A BJP government will give employment to every household, Shah said.

Shah said Communists have been wiped out of the entire world and Congress is wiped out from India.

He also accused the Left parties of spreading rumours that the state would be divided if the BJP comes to power and asserted that there would no division and Tripura would remain as it is. In Tripura, birth anniversaries of Stalin & Lenin are celebrated but not of Tagore & Vivekanand.
