Seven 'porn dancers' deported from Cambodia

Seven people in a group of ten foreigners accused of "pornographic dances" were deported from Cambodia, the World Agencies said, citing the judicial authorities.

Court spokesperson Yin Srang told AFP on Monday that the court "deported them from the country" as part of the bail decision, although the charges against them have not been formally dropped.

The other three were identified as Job Robertus van der Wel, 22, from the Netherlands, David Nikolaus Aleksandr Ballovarre, 22, of Norway, and Paul Martin Brasch, 32, of New Zealand.

The group was arrested in January after images emerged of people appearing to imitate sex acts at a party in Siem Reap in the country's north-west.

Their lawyer, Ouch Sopheaktra, confirmed that the seven had left Cambodia from Wednesday through Friday last week after being freed on bail.

The promotional material included images of people appearing to imitate sex acts at a party called the "Pub Crawl or Let's Get Wet".

All 10 accused have denied the charges, saying only that they were wearing clothing that could be considered suggestive.

If offenders are convicted of posting pornographic photos, they can be punished with up to a year in jail in the largely Buddhist country.

The town of Siem Reap is a highlight of the tourist trail and is the gateway to the ruins of Angkor Wat, Cambodia's main tourist attraction.

In 2016, a number of foreigners were arrested in Angkor Wat for taking suggestive photos.
