Don't Talk to Kim if Nukes Are Off the Table

"Where have I seen that before?"

Kim Jong Un has invited South Korean President Moon Jae-in for talks between the two nations for the first time in a decade.

Murphy wasn't the only one to note Pence had condemned NFL players for kneeling in protest during the national anthem.

North Korea's Alpine skiing coach says it's an "honor" to compete at the Pyeongchang Olympics, though he doesn't expect much from any of his three athletes.

If the encounter took place, it would be the first between Kim and a South Korean president, and the first North-South summit on the peninsula since 2007, when President Moo-hyun - whose administration Moon served in - met with Kim Jong Un's father, Kim Jong Il.

At the time, Pence and his wife Karen were seated just in front of Kim Jong Un's sister, Kim Yo Jong. "So the maximum pressure campaign is going to continue and intensify".

U.S. Vice President Mike Pence, back in Washington after attending the opening of the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, said the United States, South Korea and Japan were in complete agreement on isolating North Korea over its nuclear weapons programme.

Pyongyang conducted its largest nuclear test a year ago and in November tested its most advanced intercontinental ballistic missile that experts said has the range to reach anywhere in the United States.

One of the meetings resulted in a personal invitation for Moon to visit Pyongyang, delivered by Kim Yo Jong.

South Korea said it will seek ways to continue engaging North Korea, including trying to arrange more reunions for families divided by the war and lowering military tensions.

Earlier, it has suggested that talks could start between the USA and North Korea once South Korea suspends its joint military exercise with South Korea. It has only deepened over the years as the North closes in on the ability to field an arsenal of nukes that can hit US cities.

Some 140 members of Pyong-yang's Samjiyon Orchestra gave a concert in Seoul as part of a deal in which the North sent hundreds of athletes, cheerleaders and others to the Pyeongchang Winter Games.

Rather than aid the administration in reminding the world that North Korea is a violent and repressive country, the media unnecessarily bolstered the message of a regime that has been threatening to destroy the USA for decades. A summit without any mention of denuclearization would face worldwide condemnation, and weakening the USA military presence on the Korean Peninsula is also off the table.
