Florida server stiffed by church on $735 bill fired over Facebook rant

A recently fired Outback Steakhouse server posted on social media after a local mega church didn’t tip her on a $735 takeout bill

"When I brought it out and put it in the auto and received the payment, there was no gratuity". 'It's a lot of work just as much as serving'.

"Tips is how we make our money; we still make a low wage as servers", Yoder said.

The next day, Yoder came in to work and was told that Christ Fellowship had been refunded the entire $735, and she was sacked. Yoder said because she spent most of her shift preparing the 75-item order for Christ Fellowship, she only made a total of $18 in tips that day on other orders.

The total tip: $0, she told reporters.

It wasn't long before Yoder took her frustration to social media. He later told her that the church was going to contact the restaurant in order to make amends.

Christ Fellowship Church, also in Palm Beach Gardens, placed the $735 order to be picked up at a nearby Outback Steakhouse, Wednesday. People who attend Christ Fellowship said it was never their intention for anyone to lose their job.

A representative for the restaurant chain told the Palm Beach Post that per company policy, employees are prohibited from posting about customers on social media and can be subject to termination if the policy is violated. Koch declined to "go into specifics" about the incident. "I got upset. I posted a post on Facebook about the church not leaving a gratuity tip", Tamalyn said.

"We did not call the restaurant to have her fired, we wanted to get the situation resolved", David Lonsberry, an executive director of business for Christ Fellowship said.

Trying to make it right, the church called Outback Thursday to offer a tip to the stiffed waitress.

A volunteer went to pick it all up - and server Tamlynn Yoder was there to help out. "He probably didn't know to tip since it was a rush of the moment thing", said Lonsberry.

"I feel that we should be allowed to say something especially to big parties that don't leave anything.they pay the exact amount". "At no time, did any Christ Fellowship staff dine-in the restaurant that evening as we were hosting a major event at the time".
