Shocking! 26-year-old law student beaten to death in UP's Allahabad

A 26-year-old law student died in Uttar Pradesh's Allahabad on Sunday after he was attacked by a group of men with hockey sticks, broken pipes and bricks near a restaurant in the city, NDTV reported.

If reports are to be believed, the deceased and two of his friends had gone for dinner at Kalika restaurant.

Dilip Saroj, a second-year LLB student of Allahabad Degree College not far from the varsity campus in the Coloneganj area, is seen in the video being bludgeoned by four persons with iron bars and chairs.

Inspector of Colonelganj police station Awadesh Pratap Singh said, "As per the CCTV footage obtained from the restaurant, they attacked Saroj mercilessly in the restaurant". On the basis of the video, one of the three suspects was arrested. After dinner, we were sitting on the stairs that lead to the restaurant.

Akash Kulhari, senior superintendent of police, said: "It appears the dispute started over some minor issue". After the incident, the law student was admitted to the nearby hospital into the coma on Saturday and later on Sunday he succumbed to injuries.

The SSP said, "Cops are looking for one Singh, a resident of Sultanpur, who is posted as a TTE with the Indian Railways, and two of his accomplices who were involved in thrashing the law student outside the restaurant".

An FIR was lodged against Singh and his friend under Sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 307 (attempt to murder) and 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide) of IPC. He had failed to inform the police about the incident, said the authorities.

Visuals showed a man lifting rocks and metal rods from the road and hitting Dilip.
