LeBron James revels in new-look Cavs after win over Celtics

It will be interesting to see how far they can go without him this spring, but, in closer focus, people will be watching today to learn what the 2017-18 Cavaliers, Part Deux, are now.

A 123-107 victory at the Atlanta Hawks was the flawless boost for the team, but Cavaliers star forward LeBron James was quick to dismiss that the win was due to the departures of his former team-mates.

"That's something we want to keep getting better at", James said.

Korver, who turns 37 in March, was pressed into extended duty as the Cavaliers had just 10 available players after Thursday's National Basketball Association trade deadline.

What wasn't laughable for the Hawks is how easily the shorthanded Cavs beat the Hawks.

The Cavs began their shocking overhaul by sending Thomas, the guard who was disappointing with Cleveland, along with forward Channing Frye and one of their two first-round picks to the Los Angeles Lakers for point guard Jordan Clarkson and forward Larry Nance Jr.

Later in the afternoon, the Cavaliers acquired point guard George Hill from Sacramento and southpaw shooting guard Rodney Hood from Utah.

All that wheeling-and-dealing stole headlines even with almost two-thirds of the league making deals.

"We have one of the best players in the history of the game, I'm sure he's going to dictate the tempo and things like that", Hill said. The Heat struggle to score and used a second-round pick to bring back the player who did that more than anyone else for their franchise.

In Charlotte, DeMar DeRozan scored a team-high 25 points and CJ Miles came off the bench to score 24 points as the Raptors notched their fifth straight victory with a 123-103 win over the Charlotte Hornets.

The trades mooted a mini controversy over whether the Celtics would honor Isaiah Thomas in his return to Boston. However, LeBron leaving the Cavs, again, is very much a possibility and much of that depends on how the Cavs finish out the season. There simply weren't many blockbusters left to be made. He also pointed out how the team's new players could create their own opportunities.

Prior to landing Blake Griffin in a recent trade with the Clippers, there is no way the Pistons would have been included on this list because there is no way LeBron will ever sign with a team unless it has multiple superstars to play alongside him.

"With the new guys, we're going to be flawless", he said.

If you are a fan of the Pistons, you have certainly heard it before.

Some players traded Thursday were immediately waived. "I was trying to take what the defense gave me but I tried to be aggressive".

There were some teams that didn't want to wait and did some tinkering Thursday. But instead, what they got was a lesson in humility.
