Montpellier: French tennis number one Lucas Pouille clinched his fifth career ATP title on Sunday with a 7-6 (7/2), 6-4 defeat of compatriot Richard Gasquet in the Montpellier final.

Lucas fired 10 aces and he never faced a break point while Gasquet had to play against six break chances, fending off five of those which wasn't enough to keep him in the match longer.

Goffin, who had an excellent season past year capped by a runners-up spot at the ATP Finals, next meets triple champion Richard Gasquet.

He saved the first two break points with volley winners but the third proved to be fatal, missing an easy backhand to give his opponent a commanding lead. Pouille also saved one match point against Jan-Lennard Struff and two match points against Jiri Vesely in second round matches en route to titles in Stuttgart and Budapest in 2017.

He then broke decisively in the seventh game of the second set and did not look back. He was 4-1 down before winning 11 of the last 13 games. He entered the event at No. 17 on the ATP rankings.
