'War Is Not an Option': India Must Talk with Pakistan, Says J&K CM Mehbooba Mufti

Jammu: Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Monday once again reiterated her call for dialogue with Pakistan in order to end the bloodshed in Kashmir. "It is only people of Jammu Kashmir who will talk as we are suffering".

In a tweet, Mehbooba also stressed that she would be labelled an "anti-national" by the news channels for calling dialogue between India and Pakistan. "We have to talk because war is not an option". Gunbattle was underway near the camp between 49 Battalion of the CRPF and terrorists on Monday.

Later in the day, Mehbooba while speaking in the state Assembly, hit out at some media houses for labelling those favouring dialogues with Pakistan as "anti-nationals".

Saying that war is not an option for the two countries, Mufti added that talks are necessary to end the bloodshed.

"Unfortunately, some media houses have created an atmosphere that if we talk of dialogue (with Pakistan) then we are labelled anti-national", she said.

She added that the many wars since 1947 have not resolved the problem.
