Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the "City of Palaces" and launch a host of projects taken up with funds from the Union government.

In both Oman and the UAE, Modi is expected to meet the Indian diaspora, which he said "is a bridge of friendship between India and the Gulf countries".

Indian oil and gas companies secured a stake in Abu Dhabi's hydrocarbon resources for the first time on Sunday under an agreement signed during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the UAE that also saw him lay the foundation of a Swaminarayan temple on land donated by the Emirates government.

India and Oman have thriving links rooted in centuries-old people-to-people exchanges, Modi said.

India has always been a leading country in the traditionally pro-Palestinian Non-Aligned Movement, but has developed warm relations with Israel in recent years.

Mr Modi said, the world is our stage and millions of Indians are progressing to new heights.

PM Modi, who landed in Abu Dhabi on the second leg of his tour, also held wide-ranging talks with Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The Feb. 9-12 trip comes within a month of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to India that saw the two countries hailing each other as a strategic partner despite New Delhi's long-standing support for the Palestinian cause. He stated, "India hopes to see an Independent Palestinian state living in an environment of peace". "I thank the gulf countries which provided nearly 30 Lakh people from India a home like environment, away from home, here", he says.

"India's leap in World Bank's Ease of Doing Business Rankings from 142 to 100 is unprecedented".

For this reason, many have accused India of hypocrisy for heavily supporting Israel while falsely claiming to back Palestinian statehood. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Modi said, the temple is a unique symbol of religious tolerance and the Indian principle of Vasudhaiv Kutumbkam- one world one family. Earlier in the day, Modi paid tributes at the UAE war memorial Wahat Al Karama near Abu Dhabi.
