Rep Maloney calls for full investigation of White House aide Rob Porter

'In light of the President's and the White House's continued dismissal of me and Colbie, I want to assure you my truth has not been diminished, ' Willoughby said.

The president added: "We hope he has a wonderful career". Conway said on ABC's "This Week".

Conway said the Porter described in the police reports against him, was "not the Rob Porter we knew in the White House". "Same negative stories over and over again".

Asked by CNN's Jake Tapper about Trump's tweet on Saturday that lives were being "destroyed" by allegations that are sometimes false, Conway said there was "no reason not to believe the women", who gave evidence to the Federal Bureau of Investigation under the threat of perjury.

"Those accusers have had their day on your network and elsewhere for a long time, they were trotted out again late past year, and I don't need a lecture from Kirsten Gillibrand or anybody else who protected and defended and harbored a sitting president who had sex relations in the Oval Office, and was impeached for lying―I don't need a lecture from her or anybody else".

The next day, the President tweeted "lives are being shattered and destroyed by a mere allegation".

"For the president and the chief of staff to give that person the benefit of the doubt is probably a very normal and human reaction", he said.

Several women have accused Trump of sexual misconduct before he assumed office, claims he dismisses as lies.

Mr Trump's latest comments suggest that this week's resignations - particularly Mr Porter's - were jolting at the highest levels.

The Porter controversy intensified pressure on White House chief of staff John Kelly over his strong initial defence of the official.

The Saturday morning tweet came after Trump said Friday afternoon that he was surprised and saddened by allegations of domestic violence against a top aide, Rob Porter, who resigned this week.

Mr Porter worked directly with Mr Kelly, the chief of staff, and was considered a skilled insider.

Anthony Scaramucci thinks Trump's Chief of Staff John Kelly needs to leave The White House STAT if he lied to the Prez and the people about Rob Porter.

Trump by telling reporters that he maintained his innocence, and even offered a measure of support for Porter by saying he had a "great career ahead of him".

When the allegations first emerged against Porter, who downplayed the claims from two ex-wives, a number of senior aides rallied around him, and the White House acknowledged that personal relationships may have played a role in their response.

"He's up to his neck in it", Maloney said of Kelly, "and he chose not to deal with it".

Further, Conway told Tapper she didn't worry about White House communications director Hope Hicks dating Porter, as "I've rarely met somebody so strong with such excellent instincts and loyalty and smarts" - as if strong, smart women are never abused.
