Southwest Airlines crew members are seen de-icing an aircraft at Boston's Logan International Airport in 2014. The airline recently confirmed that a lack of de-icing fluid was responsible for flight cancellations in Chicago on Sunday

At Midway airport, Southwest airlines announced they'd canceled all of their remaining flights on Sunday after running low on de-icing fluid for their planes.

"Throughout the storms, we've actively worked to manage our glycol levels (used to deice aircraft) but due to the severity of the winter weather Southwest has proactively canceled about 220 flights as of Midday Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018", a spokesperson said in an email.

The Chicago Department of Aviation's website Sunday showed cancellations of all Southwest flights leaving Midway. Midway Airport said a total of 250 flights were canceled after an icy storm, suggesting other airlines were also affected, though operations are expected to return to normal, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Chicago has recorded measurable snowfall every day since February 3, tying a record for the longest such stretch that's only been matched twice since 1885, the National Weather Service said.
