'Stupid' - Antonio Conte sends out a warning to Chelsea hierarchy

Antonio Conte

Antonio Conte

He lifted the Premier League trophy in his first year in England but a 4-1 thrashing at Watford last Monday followed an embarrassing 0-3 loss to Bournemouth in Chelsea's last home game to leave the Premier League champions in serious risk of failing to qualify for next season's Champions League.

The 48-year-old has copped much of the criticism for his team's failings.

Also linked to Chelsea is Carlo Ancelotti, who led the club to the Premier League title in 2009-10.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has been heaping the praise on Luis Enrique - a man who has been heavily touted as the Italian's replacement. When I was the coach of Juventus, he was Roma's coach.

Barcelona-based Mundo Deportivo are reporting that former Barca boss Luis Enrique is definitely ready to return to football management this summer, and that the Premier League is his preferred destination.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte believes he needs to be more persuasive when asking the club to sign new players, saying that his efforts to convince his board to spend big in the transfer window were "a bit of a disaster". Usually in my experience, I reached the best results possible with the players I have to work with.

"Honestly I don't think talk about my future can affect the players", he added.

'I know him, ' said Conte. But, I repeat, I'm not jealous or envious of other managers. I can speak about him very well, as a person and a coach. A club can take different decisions. [Or] you can trust in a coach and his work and continue with him even if you don't win, and try and build something important. 'When you've got one of those at the top of the pitch they're very hard to replace'.

Conte laughed at a suggestion that he should stop improving his players and replied: 'You are not the first person to tell me this'.

Recent reports have suggested that Conte will call it quits at the end of the season, although speculation has been growing like wildfire about his imminent dismissal. I think we are ready to face the game against West Brom, and them to play against Hull City and then Barcelona.
