The officials added that the sentry saw two militants carrying bags and AK 47 rifles approaching the camp of the 23 battalion of CRPF in Karan Nagar area around 4.30 am.

The CRPF personnel opened fire and the militants fled from the spot.

After the hiding militants were challenged, they fired at the security forces triggering a gunfight, that is still on.

The gunfight on Monday came two days after Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militants attacked an army camp in Sunjuwan, Jammu, killing six people including five soldiers. An official said firing was still on and forces were engaged with the militants. "They ran into the nearby building behind National School", said Yadav.

It is believed that the terrorists were planning to attack the CRPF camp. A search operation around the camp has been initiated. The CRPF then cordoned off the area, after which there was an intermittent exchange of fire. Six army personnel and six civilians are injured.

The trooper was wounded in the shootout as the security forces prepared for a final assault against the holed-up militants, a police officer said. "During searches in the peripheral area of the camp, it was found that the terrorists had entered a building in the area, which was later surrounded and fire exchanges are continuing between the terrorists and the security forces", said senior police sources.
