Otherwise, the Huskies' latest attempt to match up with a ranked opponent went about as expected, ending with Wichita State's 95-74 victory, the seventh time this season UConn has lost by 20 or more points.

Jalen Adams and Terry Larrier paced UConn (12-13, 5-7 American) with 22 points each.

The Shockers (19-5, 9-3 American Athletic Conference) had 17 assists and just two turnovers while building a 55-33 halftime lead.

Landry Shamet scored 16 points in just 23 minutes, the only Shocker to play that many.

"Our defense was just frightful today", Ollie said. We can come up with all kind of ways that they scored, but at the end of the day, it comes down us guarding, us believing in each other and making the rotations that we go over every day. Wichita State outrebounded UConn 40-24 and was 14 of 28 from the 3-point line. "We didn't get out on shooters, allowed wide-open cuts, gave up offensive rebounds".

As Wichita State senior Rashard Kelly stood with the ball in the opening minutes, the result of a second offensive rebound on the possession, a sold-out crowd rose to its feet and thundered applause.

Marshall was not thrilled with the way his team "muddled through the second half", but even he had to admit the first half was impressive.

The Huskies were never closer than 10 points after that.

The Shockers answered with a 16-4 push that began with a Morris dunk and ended with consecutive threes from Shamet, Reaves and Willis and a 49-27 advantage with 3:31 remaining in the half. "It is a thing to marvel at sometimes they way our guys move it". The effort fell one shy of the school's single-game record but nonetheless made history.

Frankamp went from a starting role to playing less than 15 minutes in any of those three games.

"I was just wondering when it was going to happen for him", Marshall said. "I knew they would start falling".

UConn is now 24-0 on the season. Ollie was asked after the game if the Huskies are starting to get dispirited. "We've got to really look in the mirror and say, 'what are we here for?' as a whole unit, and I'm saying myself included".
