Lynn set for further assessment on dislocated shoulder

Chris Lynn hopeful of being fit for IPL after being ruled out of PSL

During the ninth over of New Zealand's innings, Lynn fell awkwardly while fielding at the midwicket region.

Lynn suffered quite a few niggling injuries on his left shoulder throughout his cricket career. But on Wednesday, as he came down, he seemed to have jarred his right arm on the surface and it was later confirmed that he had popped the shoulder out of the socket. He was escorted off the field by the medical staff and taken to hospital for scans even though the staff managed to put his shoulder back in place.

Initially, he sprinted towards his left to stop the ball coming his way, but ended up using his right arm - by virtue of being right handed - to eventually end up falling across his body. "His shoulder was able to be put back into place at the ground and he was consequently sent for X-Rays which revealed no major bone injury", said Alex Kountouris, the Australia physiotherapist.

"The hard-hitting right-hander has been ruled out of the upcoming Pakistan Super League, but is still hopeful of playing in the Indian Premier League later this year", the statement added.

It continues a bad run of luck for Lynn, who is among the most-dominant batsmen in T20 cricket when fit. "It's something that's played on my mind for about four years", he said.

"Now every game, I'm getting less apprehensive and more confident".

Lynn was later seen sporting a shoulder brace during the rain break while all his teammates swarmed around to check on him. The left shoulder was the victim on Wednesday as well.

He was also forced to pull out of Australia's recent one-day worldwide series against England with a calf issue.
