"Neither did you [the Delhi government] take up the task of notifying 351 stretches to provide relief to traders nor was a renowned lawyer appointed to contend the issue legally", Mr. Chahal said, adding that a panel of representatives from the Delhi BJP that had met the CM on January 30 over the sealing issue was "misbehaved" with.

Earlier in the day, Mr Maken expressed hope that the Government would find a solution to the issue which has affected traders across the city.

The sealing drive - shutting off illegal establishments - started late a year ago on the directions of the Supreme Court-appointed monitoring committee. Markets like Chandni Chowk, Connaught Place, Lajpat Nagar, Amar Colony, Khan Market, South Extension, Greater Kailash, Karol Bagh, Sadar Bazaar, Kamla Nagar and several other prominent commercial places are likely to remain shut today.

The Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) have also extended support to the trade bandh, demanding the central and state governments' immediate intervention.

Khandelwal said it would hold a "vyapaari panchayat" in Karol Bagh in which thousands of traders are expected to participate.

Khandelwal also led a delegation of traders to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday.

The CAIT, however, demanded Singh to press the Centre for enacting a special legislation in the Parliament which could overturn the sealing of commercial entities in residential areas - as ordered by the Supreme Court.

An all-party meeting on the sealing drive held at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence on Tuesday.

In a letter to Mr. Kejriwal, Delhi BJP general secretary Kuljeet Singh Chahal said there was no point in attending the meeting since the "intentions of the Delhi government are not clear on the matter".

At the instance of a Supreme Court-appointed Monitoring Committee sealing actions have been taken by civic bodies across Delhi for violation of civic norms or Master Plan of Delhi 2021.
