Donald Trump Renews National Emergency with Respect to Iran

Netanyahu warns of N arms race in West Asia

US President Donald Trump told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the United States would pull out of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal if his demands to make "significant" changes to the agreement were not met, US media reported, citing officials.

"The officials say Trump told Netanyahu that until now the three European powers only proposed "cosmetic changes" that he doesn't find satisfactory". The US president also threatened to withdraw the US from the agreement if it is not amended. The president wants European allies to join him in demanding an end to Iran's ballistic-missile testing, which are not addressed by the nuclear deal; unrestricted access for United Nations nuclear inspectors to Iran's military sites, which have previously hosted nuclear weapons experimentation; and permanent caps on Iran's enrichment of fissile material, which in the current deal sunset within 10 to 15 years.

US President Donald Trump has extended the national emergency with respect to Iran that was declared on March 15, 1995, according to his letter to the US House of Representatives speaker and the Senate President.

"The conversation lasted an hour longer than was allocated for it".

Netanyahu reportedly referred to Saudi Arabia, which is in talks to buy nuclear reactors from the US.

U.S. officials will pick up discussions with their European Union counterparts about the fate of the Iran nuclear deal.

"President Trump has made it clear that his administration will not accept Iran's aggression in the region".

Trump has said that he will allow for the reimposition of nuclear-related sanctions on Iran upon a mid-May waiver deadline unless Europe agrees to some form of renegotiation.

Netanyahu and Trump's meeting on Monday was their fifth over the past year.
