Donald has 72 caps‚ Ntini 101‚ and Steyn 86. Makhaya Ntini also did it four times, but from 101 Tests, and Allan Donald managed only three ten-wicket matches from his 72-Test career.

There was a shadow hanging over the 22-year-old fast bowler, however.

Australia captain Steve Smith put the blame firmly on his batsmen after falling to a six-wicket defeat in the second Test against the Proteas in Port Elizabeth on Monday.

Rabada is one of the most popular cricketers in South Africa, mainly for his major talent but also because he is a young black player in a sport focusing on bringing black players through to the national team to erase the legacy of apartheid.

Australia started the penultimate day 180-5 with a lead of 41 runs but Rabada bowled Mitchell Marsh in the first over of the day.

"I found that there was contact between Rabada and Smith, and in my judgement, the contact by Rabada was inappropriate and deliberate", he said.

He was fined 25 per cent of his match fee and given one demerit point.

David Warner was also responsible for a reprieve at 9-373, failing to dislodge the bails cleanly at the bowler's end when Lungi Ngidi was short of his ground.

South Africa pacer Kagiso Rabada has realised that he needs to relook at his on-field behaviour after being suspended for the two Test matches by ICC.

The teams now move on to Cape Town for the third Test at Newlands, starting on Thursday, March 22.

But he is consulting lawyers and an appeal‚ which would have to be lodged no later than 48 hours after the sentence was handed down‚ could be forthcoming.

He just wants to win a few more matches with South Africa.

Rabada was given three demerit points, which took his total to eight points in two years, activating an automatic two-match suspension.

"If you look at the way "KG" plays the game‚ he's a competitive fast bowler and he works bloody hard‚" Du Plessis said. "He was just very, very passionate when he got him out".

Is a two-match ban a fair punishment for Rabada's antics? "To be honest, I just let it out", he said.

Mitch Marsh became the latest player embroiled in controversy during the spiteful series when he gave Kagiso Rabada a foul-mouthed spray after being dismissed on day four in Port Elizabeth. There is a whole lot of emotion, pride. You are playing for the No1 spot.

"There's a lot of grey areas‚ but the rules are rules". If I knew I had done it deliberately, then I would not have gone to contest. Basically in the first Test, Australia took the same decision and as a result they won the match.

Before the verdict was announced, a remorseful Rabada said: "It's going to have to stop".
