Vikings expected to land free agent Kirk Cousins

A day before the official onset of free agency, the quarterbacks dominoes are falling into place.

Case Keenum - who quarterbacked the Vikings to an NFC North title in 2017 - is set to sign with the Broncos in free agency.

ESPN reported Cousins could get a three-year, $84 million deal with "rolling" guarantees exceeding $50 million. Gang Green is not Bridgewater's only option, Rapoport added, but he is the organization's first choice.

Kirk Cousins plans to kick off his free agent tour in Minnesota with the Vikings. The promise of a breakout campaign in 2016 was derailed by a career-altering left knee injury, and Bridgewater returned for a few garbage time snaps in Week 15 last season.

However, in his fourth season, Cousins was tabbed as Washington's starting quarterback, and he obliged by throwing for 4,166 yards, 29 touchdowns and 11 picks while leading the league with a completion percentage of 69.8.

Having a fully guaranteed deal is uncharted waters for the National Football League, and could potentially change the game when it comes to negotiating contracts. Is married, went to Michigan State, was drafted by Washington and spent six seasons there.

Cousins will reportedly have dinner with Vikings coaches and other essential personnel on Wednesday before visiting the team's new facility on Thursday, by which point he is expected to officially sign. The 30-year-old finished with 3,547 yards, 22 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

The Jets are also interested in Teddy Bridgewater, who missed almost two seasons with a knee injury.

With the Vikings on the verge of signing Cousins to a huge deal, a source said they might look to trim salary with some players on their roster.

There is likely to be plenty of rust in Bridgewater's game should he be given the keys to the Jets offense in 2018, meaning NY could bring back McCown to back him up. It was clear by season's end in 2017 that both sides wanted to avoid another one-year tag.

Along with Bradford, Teddy Bridgewater is also a free agent after spending eight weeks as the Vikings' No. 2 quarterback.
