Ex-Jets K Chandler Catanzaro signs a 1-year deal with Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed former Jets and Cardinals kicker Chandler Catanzaro to a new deal on Wednesday as first reported by Greg Auman of the Tamp Bay Times.

Tampa Bay's kicking game was among their biggest concerns and dilemma's the past two years.

Catanzaro had a nice bounce-back season for the Jets, making 83.3 percent of his field goals, including the longest in Jets history, 57-yarder.

Catanzaro made his first 17 field goals to start his National Football League career in 2014; he also missed a 24-yarder in what ended up a 6-6 tie with Seattle in 2016, leading the Cardinals to go in another direction. Catanzaro signed a free agent contract with the Arizona Cardinals after the 2014 National Football League draft.

The Bucs hope to bring continuity to a position that's had steady turnover - no kicker has lasted more than one year since Connor Barth in 2009-12, followed by Rian Lindell (2013), Murray (2014), Barth (2015), Roberto Aguayo (2016) and Murray again last season. His career totals were 67 out of 82 field goals and 203 out of 207 extra point attempts.
