Hearing Date Set for Stormy Daniels Lawsuit Over Alleged Trump Affair

"I am attempting to speak honestly and openly to the American people", Stormy Daniels said in a statement appended to the fundraiser.

Earlier this week, Daniels offered to return the $130,000 in order to dissolve the hush agreement, and she had since started a fundraising drive to help pay for her legal fees.

As of this writing, Stormy has already raised almost $13K for "attorneys' fees; out-of-pocket costs associated with the lawsuit, arbitration, and my right to speak openly; security expenses; and damages that may be awarded against me if I speak out and ultimately lose".

Daniels' attorney, Michael Avenatti, said his client takes that threat "very seriously". He said the porn star, her manager, and her lawyer were discussing how best to address the Trump conversation.

Last week, Daniels said she had recorded an interview with CBS News' "60 Minutes", but it's not known when it will air, likely due to the nondisclosure agreement and restraining order.

Stormy Daniels gave a radio interview in 2007 where she talked about her sexual partners and identified Donald Trump as one of them, the host Bubba the Love Sponge Clem has claimed.

Trump through his spokeswoman has denied the affair, though the president himself has not publicly commented.

Trump's advisers have reportedly told him not to fight Daniels' decision to break a confidentiality agreement because it would make him look guilty and that that's the reason he hadn't slammed her in public or on Twitter.

Daniels is also asking to be allowed to publish text messages, photos and videos relating to the president, Avenatti said in a letter to Trump's lawyer Michael Cohen. The statement was issued in January, after the Wall St Journal first reported on the $130,000 payment.

I am more fortunate than many, many people in this country.

Daniels claims that each and every time she speaks out about the situation, she is threatened with $1 million dollars in damages.

"I need funds to pay for: attorneys" fees; out-of-pocket costs associated with the lawsuit, arbitration, and my right to speak openly; security expenses; and damages that may be awarded against me if I speak out and ultimately lose to Mr. Trump and Mr. Cohen, ' she wrote in the appeal.

The lawsuit says that Daniels and Cohen both signed the agreement on the last days of the 2016 presidential election.
