Minnesota's kissing Cousins, but is he the answer to Vikings QB needs?

Quarterback Kirk Cousins is close to signing with the Vikings.

ESPN's Adam Schefter first reported the news but Cousins's agent said the deal was not yet done - free agency does not open until Wednesday in any case. Keenum, according to Mike Klis of 9News, will reportedly sign a two-year deal worth $36 million - chump change for a team that badly needs to recoup resources and assets while saving money in the process in the wake of the cap-busting, "all-in" Peyton Manning era. And though Cousins's courage under duress can create some great highlights (remember the end of last year's Seattle game?), his so-so arm and inconsistent mechanics can also lead to meltdowns. "Who would you rather have: Case Keenum or Kirk Cousins?". He completed 64.3 percent of his passes for 4,093 yards, 27 touchdowns and 13 interceptions last season for the Washington Redskins. He also sneakily adds something as a runner, with 13 rushing scores over those three seasons. National Football League guru Adam Schefter tweeted that Bradford's one-year deal will be worth $20 million big ones, with $15 of it guaranteed.

Back in the Spring of 2015, Wilson was negotiating a contract extension with the Seahawks which would make him the highest paid player at his position at the time.

"I haven't had the chance to pick where I'm going to play since 2007 when I chose to go to Michigan State, so I'm looking forward to that opportunity", Cousins said in Minnesota the week of the Super Bowl during an appearance on SiriusXM satellite radio.

WELCOME TO MINNESOTA: Vikings Pro Bowl cornerback welcomed Cousins to Minnesota with a tweet, but made sure to let him know it will still be "Rhodes Closed" in practice. With McCown, Bridgewater and a top quarterback in this year's draft (with one notable exception), they'll be in far better shape than they were at the end of last season.

The Vikings won the NFC North comfortably, finishing well ahead of the Green Bay Packers, who were without Aaron Rodgers for most of the season.

The Jets still own the No. 6 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, and they could still take a quarterback with that selection. He has 58,097 passing yards and 408 touchdowns with the Saints and is likely to become the NFL's all-time passing yards leader at some point in the 2018 season. When the offseason rolled around, Cousins was tagged again - and this time, it was Cousins who had reservations. New England picked Wilson in the second round in 2012 and the former IL star played in 54 games, starting four, over four years with them. Keenum is a better fit than most believe.

While NFL.com reports that Teddy Bridgewater is working on a deal with the Jets, Sam Bradford's bags are already packed as he heads to Arizona.
