Ole Miss reportedly has its replacement for Andy Kennedy.

Ole Miss is expected to hire Middle Tennessee coach Kermit Davis as its new men's basketball coach, sources close to the situation told ESPN.

A Leakesville native, Davis played basketball at Mississippi State for two seasons. They will play at Louisville in a second-round game. The Blue Raiders defeated Vermont 91-64 in an NIT first-round game in Murfreesboro Tuesday night.

Davis has spent 16 seasons at Middle Tennessee, building one of the top mid-major programs in the country.

His team missed the Big Dance this season due to a conference tournament loss to Southern Miss after winning the Conference USA regular season title.

Davis has had three other stops as a head coach at four-year schools including Texas A&M, which was placed on NCAA probation as he left after one season as coach in 1990-1991.

Davis, 58, has been at Middle Tennessee since 2002 and has amassed a 333-187 record with the Blue Raiders. Those trips include first-round upsets of No. 2 seed Michigan State in the 2016 NCAA Tournament and No. 5 seed Minnesota in 2017.

Ole Miss also had strong interest in former Ohio State coach Thad Matta and current Florida coach Michael White, a former Ole Miss player and assistant coach.
