Confirming the incident, the state Police Spokesperson, Terna Tyopev said its however yet to confirm the casualty figure.

Ivy Gulu, the Public Relations Officer of the Irigwe Development Association, told newsmen that 23 persons were killed on Monday night at Dundu, a village in Kwall District of Bassa LGA.

A resident of the affected community, who identified himself as Timothy, however said that 25 corpses were counted after the attack.

Close to 200 people have been killed as a result of herdsmen attacks in Various states in the country in 2018 alone. He also said there were no security operatives in the area.

The ugly incident happened during the visit of President Muhammadu Buhari.

This is coming as the state government had planned a mass burial for some people who were earlier killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen today.
