Ch Nisar advises Nawaz to avoid confrontation with judiciary, military

Responding to a question, former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said when he was the interior minister, specific criteria was laid down to place names on the ECL.

The senior PML-N leader said he has a stance, not a narrative, which is that "we should not clash with the judiciary and the armed forces of Pakistan". He said he had confined himself to his constituency adding the time had come to talk about some important party matters.

Nisar observed that the politics was not a boxing match rather the politicians should find a better way out without compromising on principles.

"We have eliminated the terrorism in the Country and restored peace", the minister said.

Talking to media representatives in Lahore, Ahsan Iqbal said invisible powers had always tried to stop the development of democracy in the Country.

The ex-interior minister said he had been "handling matters" developing over the past few months silently and had chose to stay away from the new cabinet.

On Friday, the matter about inclusion of their names on the ECL was raised on the floor of the National Assembly.

He recalled that the committee was directed if anybody's name is forwarded to it by NAB, FIA, intelligence agencies, General Headquarters or banking courts, same should be implemented.

According to the law, name of any accused is taken off the ECL if court did not deliver its decision for three years, he explained.

Nisar again clarifying why fomer military dictator Pervez Musharraf was remved from ECL, said the action was taken on a high court's orders.

He said that prior to 2013, there was no policy putting names on the ECL and people were used to be placed on the list even on domestic issues like dispute between husband and wife on directions of the minister or federal secretary. Hopefully, he added, Musharraf will come back and face courts.
