Edgar also won the initial meeting between he and Swanson at UFC Fight Night 57 and that win came by way of fifth round submission.

Edgar (22-6-1) is coming off of the first knockout loss of his professional MMA career, which came to Brian Ortega at UFC 222. This became the first time Edgar had ever been finished in his career and it lost him his chance to fight Max Holloway for the featherweight crown.

A rematch between Cub Swanson and Frankie Edgar looks to be heading to Atlantic City. Cub Swanson has won eight Fight of the Night Awards.

Since it has been over 10 years since he has fought in the Garden State, it comes as no surprise that Edgar wanted to get on this Atlantic City card.

UFC Fight Night 128 will take place April 21 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. It also features bouts between David Brand and Thiago Santos, Jim Miller and Dan Hooker, and Aljamain Sterling and Brett Johns. Swanson, who has looked great recently, will love to run it back.

Frankie defeated Cub back in 2014 by way of a neck crank at the very end of their five round encounter but with both men meandering around the top-5 of the division, the UFC are apparently eyeing a rematch as a fitting way to introduce one of these grizzled veterans back into the title mix. Edgar is also a former UFC Lightweight Champion, defeating BJ Penn by decision to win the strap at UFC 112.

Both men are such well-rounded fighters that anything could happen for three rounds.

ESPN ranks Edgar and Swanson the Nos. Swanson also has an odd but effective style on the feet and throws interesting combinations that keep even the most experienced fighter on his toes.

Was it wise for Frankie Edgar to take this fight so quickly?
