The woman hit by a pallet of bricks has died More

The 29-year-old had been hit by a falling pallet of bricks from a 100ft crane at a new housing development - a day before she was due to celebrate her birthday.

She was rushed to an east London hospital following the horror on Tuesday but sadly passed away this morning, police confirmed.

Police said: "Officers from Tower Hamlets CID are investigating in consultation with the Health and Safety Executive". Her next of kin have been informed and a postmortem will be carried out.

A woman had been struck by debris falling from a building site crane.

A man was also treated at the scene for shock.

Alan Harris, who owns Revolution Karting opposite the complex, said: "I heard an almighty crash and wondered what had happened".

In the aftermath of the fatal incident, witnesses said that they had rushed to comfort the young mum.

A JustGiving page was set up by colleagues of Michaela's father, Matthew, in which they provided an update on her condition.

Bernadette Hegarty, the vicar of St Paul's Church Bow Common, who prayed beside Kayla as paramedics worked on her, described her as "a well liked member of the community".

Writing on the page, she said: "One of our employees Matthew Boor was called away from work yesterday, following the tragic accident at Mile End - His work colleagues have asked us to start this page to help him and his family at this hard time".
