Apple will repair Series 2 watch batteries for free

Apple has released a new service policy regarding the Apple watch Series 2.

Hey, it happens. As it goes, Apple is now dealing with a battery life issue on some of its Apple Watch devices, and is offering free repairs to customers who are experiencing swollen batteries. What are your thoughts on Apple offering three-year of fix program for the Series 2 in 42mm size? The free fix only applies to Series 2 watches in the 42mm variant and that includes all models of this watch.

The new fix program mirrors a warranty update for first-generation Apple Watch models implemented previous year.

"Apple will service eligible devices free of charge", it added. Warranty status does not matter for this issue. Apple will also fix watches when the display pops out of place due to the same issue.

The Apple Watch Series 2 is considerably old and for some users, the wearable's battery expands.

This is a bit different than the temporarily discounted battery replacement program that Apple put into effect for some of its iPhone devices.

The first-generation Apple Watch (Series o) seemingly suffered from the same problem, with Apple implementing a similar 3-year fix program for affected users. In this case, a visual inspection will determine if there is an actual mechanical defect, and if so, Apple will replace the battery for free. Thus far, there haven't been any reports of the Apple Watch Series 3 suffering from expanded battery issues, though it could still be too early to tell as such problems generally take sometime to manifest.

Users have experienced their Apple Watch Series 2 batteries expanding in size without any reason. Let us know in the comments.
