Michael Andrew Gray, whose address is in La Vergne, Tennessee, is accused of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl around May 1, 2016, court records indicate. Additional sessions judge Amit Kumar held Shankar guilty of sexually assaulting and inappropriately touching the minor after sending her mother out to get some items to be used to "treat" her. The convict faces a maximum of five years' imprisonment.

Police say she threatened to continue assaulting staff at the foster home and was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Centre.

The court observed that the girl has been consistent in her statements before the police and the court. Just because no public witness joined the investigation is no ground to disbelieve the complainant or to hold that the prosecution could not prove the case.

According to reports, Gray was alone with the girl on the day of the incident.

The girl told investigators that Gray gave her NyQuil, which made her sleepy, and when she woke up in bed, she was in pain because Gray was assaulting her. The claim was rejected by the court.
