Earlier, Malema's speech opened up all wounds when he directly addressed the fallen hero and said, "Mama, there are sell-outs here".

He let it all out, saying that some of the leaders who were present showering praises on Winnie-Madikizela Mandela were the same people who had disowned her.

"Equally big Mama, some of those who sold you to the regime are here and are crying louder than all of us who stood by you".

Ramaphosa, who delivered the eulogy, not only acknowledged some of the accusations levelled by Malema against the ANC but also apologised for the party having failed to honour the iconic political activist and long-time party member while she was still alive.

Addressing the 8th African Regional Executive Committee meeting, in Dakar, Senegal last Thursday, the Vice President (Africa) of the Geneva-based Industriall Global Union, Aremu, said "sustaining the legacies of Winnie Mandela amounts to throwing apartheid permanently into the dust-bin of history, failing which Africa risks resurrection of the evil of apartheid which Winnie courageously confronted at immeasurable costs".

April 14, 2018 - The Orlando Stadium in Soweto, Johannesburg was packed to capacity on Saturday for the funeral of struggle icon Winnie Madikizela-Mandela. "Only they know why they chose to share the truth now", she said.

Malema said: "I am here not so much to bury Mama, because Queen Mothers do not die, they multiply into a million red flowers of love and freedom".

Madikizela Mandela was laid to rest at Fourways Memorial Park.

Malema closed his emotive tribute by asking that Cape Town International Airport be named after her.

The EFF leader recognised former presidents Kgalema Motlanthe and Thabo Mbeki at the beginning of his speech, with special salutations to President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Today Malema is Zuma's bitterest political enemy, and his joining the fight to oust Zuma from the presidency was a bittersweet victory for the young opposition leader.
