Political parties, senior judges, armed forces condemn firing incidents at Justice Ijaz's house

In an audacious attack, shots were fired at Pakistan Supreme Court judge Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan's house in Lahore on Saturday night and again today morning.

A joint investigation team has been formed to investigate firing on the residence Supreme Court judge Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan.

Opposition leader Syed Khursheed Shah while condemning the cowardly demanded of the government to take foolproof security measures for judges' security.

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar immediately summoned the inspector general of Punjab (IGP) in this connection and vowed to monitor the situation himself.

The team would be headed by Additional IG Punjab Mohammad Tahir whereas DIG Investigation Sultan Chaudhry, one member each from Military Intelligence, Inter-Service Intelligence, Intelligence Bureau, Special Branch and Forensic Agency will also be part of it.

Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Senate chairman Sadiq Sanjrani, MQM-P leader Farooq Sattar, All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) chief retired Gen Pervez Musharraf, and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri also condemned the incident.

The judge was a member of the bench that ruled that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif could not become party chief after his disqualification.
