The government says it will seek an emergency parliamentary debate on the airstrikes Monday, though that is unlikely to satisfy angry opposition lawmakers.

Britain's foreign secretary has thanked Poland for its support after the US, UK and France carried out punitive air strikes on Syria, the Polish foreign ministry has said.

"The overwhelming why this was the right thing to do, and that is to deter the use of chemical weapons - not just by the Assad regime - but around the world", Mr Johnson said.

"The erosion of that taboo that has been in place for 100 years has gone too far under Bashar al-Assad, and it was time that we said no".

British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson and Polish Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz discussed developments in Syria and the allied military operations launched in retaliation for the suspected use of chemical weapons by Bashar al-Assad's regime.

Mrs May took the decision why MPs were on Easter recess from Parliament, which provoked Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn to criticise the Prime Minister.

"I think what we need in this country is something more robust like a War Powers Act so that governments do get held to account by Parliament for what they do in our name", he told The Andrew Marr show.

"We are confident in our own assessment that the Syrian regime was highly likely responsible for this attack and that its persistent pattern of behaviour meant that it was highly likely to continue using chemical weapons".

"If and when such a thing were to happen then clearly, with allies, we would study what the options were", he said.

"And we can not wait to alleviate further humanitarian suffering caused by chemical weapons attacks".

However, the security sources also told the Sunday Times that the United Kingdom would consider launching its own retaliatory cyber attacks against Russian Federation if its national infrastructure was targeted by the Kremlin.
