O primeiro-ministro de Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, revelou nesta segunda-feira documentos que supostamente mostram que o Irã tem um programa armamentista nuclear secreto e assegurou que Teerã está enganando o mundo, em referência ao acordo de 2015 que limita seu programa atômico.

Ao referir-se a uma "grande proeza dos serviços de informações", Netanyahu assegurou que os documentos demonstram as ambições nucleares iranianas antes da assinatura do acordo de 2015 com as potências mundiais. "Em 2017, o Irã transferiu seus arquivos de armas nucleares para um local altamente secreto em Teerã". Hoje estou aqui para vos dizer: "o Irão mentiu", referiu Netanyahu, citado pela Reuters.

Esses documentos, em papel e em CD, e pano de fundo para a declaração de Netanyahu, constituem "evidências novas e conclusivas do programa de armas nucleares que o Irã escondeu durante anos aos olhos da comunidade internacional em seus arquivos secretos atômicos", disse ele.

O serviço de inteligência israelense afirmou que coletou cerca de meia tonelada de material secreto, incluindo 55 mil páginas de documentos de texto, provando que o Irã possui um projeto nuclear militar, apelidado de 'Projeto Amad'.

Netanyahu disse que o Irã continuou a preservar e expandir seu conhecimento sobre armas nucleares para uso futuro.

Durante a sua campanha presidencial, Trump prometeu "rasgar" o acordo, desejado pelo seu antecessor na Casa Branca, Barack Obama, e fruto de anos de negociações.

O Irão tem rejeitado todas as alegações sobre a existência de um programa de armamento nuclear.

Ameaçando passar à ação 15 meses após a chegada ao poder, Trump deu aos signatários europeus do atual acordo com o Irão (Alemanha, Reino Unido e França) até 12 de maio para o tornar mais severo. "O presidente Trump decidirá o que fazer com o acordo nuclear, o melhor para os EUA, o melhor para Israel e para a paz no mundo", declarou o premiê israelense.
