The body was discovered in the building on Clonee Road in Lucan at around 1pm on Thursday and the scene was sealed off.

The post-mortem examination was carried out by State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy last night.

Local TD Social Democrats' Catherine Murphy is a friend of the Kriegel family and has spoken about the young girl's death.

"They have another child in that house as well, so of course they have to be very careful around that".

A first-year student at Confey Community College, Ana was described as a "striking teenager", who was well-known within her school and local community.

In a statement, the school said: "This is a bad tragedy for the Kriegel family, our school and our community". When she was not contactable, her parents went to the local garda station nearly immediately.
