Just Twice before has a little asteroid been discovered hours prior to colliding with Earth.

An asteroid on a collision course with Earth broke up after entering the atmosphere over southern Africa on Saturday just eight hours after it was discovered. NASA says it disintegrated several miles over the surface as it lit up the sky.

It was first spotted by the Catalina Sky Survey in Arizona. However, the asteroid was determined to be very small and therefore harmless.

First, That the asteroid crashed into the air over property, where folks may see it as a glowing fireball from the sky. Videos posted to YouTube reportedly show the fireball streaking across the night sky, including one captured on a South African farm's security camera.

The discovery observations of Asteroid 2018 LA.

Using what information was available, however, they were able to roughly calculate where it would enter Earth's atmosphere: In a swath stretching from southern Africa, across the Indian Ocean to New Guinea.

A couple of days ago in Africa has fallen asteroid. "It's also the second time the impact site was predicted long before the event", explained Paul Chodas, the leader of the Center for Near-Earth Object Studies (CNEOS) owned by NASA. He adds that the event is also only the second time that a location has been identified with enough time before eventual impact.

An official, Lindley Johnson at the NASA's Planetary Defense team, said in a statement, "This was a much smaller object than we are tasked to detect and warn about". The officer added, "The modern facilities, capabilities, and the models for impact prediction have potential to predict the impact of larger objects".

The space agency said that impacts like these are not always witnessed.

Asteroid 2018 LA was almost as far away as the moon (which is typically about 239,000 miles, or 384,600 km, from Earth) when it was first discovered on Saturday, NASA officials said.

And While 2018 LA was detected soon before it came at our setting, there are various organizations looking for potentially hazardous asteroids (PHAs) which may seriously affect life.

On Oct. 7,2008, the 13-foot (4 m) asteroid 2008 TC3 hit Earthover northern Sudan. The first was 2008 TC3, which was detected 15 hours before it broke up over northern Sudan on October 7, 2008. All three times the detection was done by the same Catalina Sky Survey telescope, and even in the same observer's shift Richard Kowalski. The next has been 2014 AA, found only a couple of hours before it changed within the Atlantic Ocean on January 1, 2014.
