"As a head and neck surgeon, I am educated to kind of discover this stuff", he mentioned.

A woman is now in cancer treatments after a doctor, who happened to be watching her on an episode of HGTV's Beachfront Bargain Hunt, noticed an odd lump on her neck.

Signs of the disease include swelling, changes to one's voice and lumps like the one that Dr Voigt noticed on Nicole's throat.

Then Voigt shared the clipping along with a suggestion in social media platform Facebook, to get checked medically.

He posted footage from the show on Facebook showing how Nicole had a thyroid mass.

"I thought, I don't think she knows she has this". "Her doctors had never noticed it. She needs a sonogram and fine needle biopsy I wonder if she knows and hope it's benign".

Voigt lauded the "awesome power of Facebook and good people!" in a second post, after he connected with McGuinness and found out that she was getting treatment for Thyroid cancer. She went for the sonogram and biopsy I advisable. "It stood out - and I went from being relaxed to [thinking], gosh, she may have a medical problem", said Voigt. After two weeks, he got in touch with the woman, who is 32-years-old.

"It's just a miracle, in my opinion, that he happened to see this on television", Nicole said.

She met Voigt on Tuesday in Manhattan when filming a segment for "Good Morning America".

Further evidence that being on HGTV will save your life: Back in 2013, Tarek El Moussa, host of Flip or Flop was also diagnosed with thyroid cancer after a nurse watching his show alerted show producers to a lump on the host's throat.

The doctor says he's cautiously optimistic that she will be able to beat cancer a second time, especially since it's detected early, giving her a better chance for survival. "So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much".
