Bryan Colangelo resigns as 76ers president

After the sensational revelations released by The Ringer last week that pointed to Colangelo operating multiple Twitter accounts as a means to defend his performance while also being critical of other members of the organization, the investigation by the NY law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLC found that it was wife, Barbara Bottini, who was primarily responsible for the accounts.

"Our investigation revealed substantial evidence that Mr. Colangelo was the source of sensitive, non-public, club-related information contained in certain posts to the Twitter accounts", the report said.

The fallout from the Bryan Colangelo burner account scandal may end up having an impact on the Boston Celtics front office.

"When interviewed, Ms. Bottini admitted establishing and operating the accounts".

"We find the situation to be disappointing for our entire organization", 76ers managing partner Josh Harris said. The Sixers have no clue if Colangelo was behind the Twitter accounts but they launched an investigation last week and all week considered firing Colangelo.

The law firm could not say if Colangelo was aware of the Twitter accounts and stated he denied "any such awareness".

"I vigorously dispute the allegation that my conduct was in any way reckless" Colangelo said.

Colangelo acknowledged using one of the accounts to monitor the National Basketball Association industry and other current events but said he wasn't familiar with the four others.

Among other things, the tweets indicated Colangelo's frustrations with center Joel Embiid, former players Jahlil Okafor and Nerlens Noel, while also taking shots at his previous employer, the Toronto Raptors.

The Ringer said it had been monitoring the accounts since February, when it received an anonymous tip.

The Ringer said it initially asked the Sixers about just two of the accounts, and the same day the three others were suddenly made private.

In the days after the initial report, internet sleuths found evidence suggesting the accounts were linked to Bottini.
