Larry Kudlow had heart attack, Donald Trump says

President Donald Trump, in transit to his historic summit with North Korean Dictator Kim Jong Un, tweeted that Larry Kudlow, his new chief economic adviser, has suffered a heart attack.

"He is now in Walter Reed Medical Center", Trump added.

Kudlow, who is 70 years old, had just joined the Trump administration in March.

USA conservative commentator and economic analyst Larry Kudlow speaks on the set of CNBC at the closing bell of the Dow Industrial Average at the New York Stock Exchange on March 8, 2018 in New York.

For five years before his White House appointment in March, Kudlow hosted a show on CNBC on business and politics, and he's worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of NY. As recently as Sunday, he had appeared on TV defending the president's attacks on Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, saying that Trudeau had committed a "betrayal".

Kudlow's description of events was contested by reporters who covered Trudeau's news conference.

Kudlow has always been a respected business and economics commentator, getting his own CNBC show in 2011. Kudlow said he is "in accord" with Trump's agenda and his team at the White House would help implement the policies set by the president. He left that position in the early 1990s to treat an addiction to alcohol and drugs.
