After they left the vehicle, they confronted driver Ahmad El Boutari about it and he said that they were being "disrespectful".

As they were crossing the Manhattan bridge, Iovine said the couple leaned over to share a quick kiss.

The driver says: "It's illegal".

One of the outraged women then questions the driver, saying, "What are you f***ing talking about?"

"We understand that someone would feel uncomfortable if people were making out in the auto", Iovine says.

A spokesman for New York City's Taxi and Limousine Commission says el Boutari has been licensed since 2014, and that his license has been suspended after this incident, pending the outcome of the TLC's investigation. "My girlfriend started laughing", Iovine told the tabloid.

Mr El Boutari told the New York Daily News that the women played loud music on their phones and one put her feet on the seat, something Ms Iovine denied. "That's when we started going back and forth just being like "What?"

Taxi and Limousine Commission spokesman Allan Fromberg called the driver's behavior "ridiculous", adding it's 2018 and "this isn't the way we live anymore". "You are not allowed to do this", he can be heard saying. The ride was so bad, the company's CEO said drivers like the one they got "don't belong on Uber".

The couple angrily threatens to call the police, saying: 'It's not illegal to kiss in NY'. "That's when we pulled out our phone", Ms Pichl claimed, according to ABC7 Eyewitness News.

But both Iovine and Pichl say they kissed once, and were not touching inappropriately. Why are we getting kicked out of the Uber?' and he said.

"Uber does not tolerate any form of discrimination, and we have been in touch with the rider regarding her experience", Hendrick said. "We never thought something like this would happen to us".

Uber has also removed El Boutari's access to its app while it investigates the incident. "It was a good lesson to show it can happen to you anywhere".

Iovine said she and Pichl ordered an Uber to take them from a friend's birthday party in Brooklyn to another party in East Village at around 5pm.

Uber refunded the $22 fare and apologized to her for the inconvenience. "We are investigating and will take appropriate action", an Uber spokesperson said in a statement on Monday.

In addition to filing the complaint with the city Human Right's Commission, the couple reported the incident to Uber, as did Elbotari.
